Introducing the new travel jacket from A.P.Valves:

The Commando Escape Sub Three Zero

The Commando Escape is a light-weight BCD that utilises bespoke new materials to deliver heavy-duty quality, comfort and performance - under 3kg*

[*under 3kg in 4 out of the 5 sizes offered - see below]

The Escape is a single bladder construction using our unique new material - OceanSeal800 - which is high-frequency welded at the seams and offers an extremely rugged yet light-weight BCD guaranteed to beat the baggage-fee-blues but still offer the high performance expected of a BUDDY jacket

Key features include a new low profile power inflator - the APV300, light-weight anodised aluminium D rings, a comfort cummerbund which is elasticated for auto-adjustment and masses of storage space in the 4 x zippered side pockets

Available in 5 sizes - S,M,L,XL & XXL

Max Lift: 11.2kg(S), 17.3kg(M), 19.3kg(L), 21.4kg(XL), 27.5kg(XXL)

Dry Weight: 2.63kg(S), 2.78kg(M), 2.87kg(L), 2.99kg(XL), 3.26kg(XXL)

PLEASE BE AWARE: The new (Oct 2010) APV300 inflator has standard inflate/deflate/oral-inflate functions BUT DOES NOT have the emergency jacket-breathing valve function of the other two A.P. Valves. Therefore, you will not be able to use this valve for this emergency routine as described in the APV200 and APV100 sections of this site.

There is no facility for an emergency mini-cylinder option on the Escape. Therefore, if you choose the Auto Air option, the emergency jacket-breathing function of the Auto Air does not apply. However, the spare-air octopus regulator function of the Auto Air will operate as normal.

Press Reviews:

"Top Performer 10/10"

"We think the company is on to a winner... a single-bag BUDDY! - that retains the ruggedness of the classic BUDDY."

"In terms of features, you get just the right amount of gizmos. The backpack with carrying handle works like a dream, as do all the straps and adjustments - it's all classic AP Valves, but lighter."

"The feature we like most are the enormous pockets. The two main pockets can easily accomodate a delayed SMB and crack bottle, back-up torches, spare mask, small reel, goody bag and more."

"In the water, it did its job; on the surface it excelled, giving plenty of lift..."

"...excellent value for money"

Value: 9/10
Performance: 10/10

DIVE, UK, TestZone - Charles Hood(Dec 2010)

"...single-bag design is a new departure... it has massive zipped pockets - four of them - and it can be used with optional twinning bands too."

"[Nigel]...surfaced and announced: "It's a BUDDY!"

Diver Magazine, UK - John Bantin
