The new balanced Auto Air - APV100 - combines in one compact unit the AP Valve emergency jacket-breathing facility, a direct feed power inflator and an alternate air source Octopus bailout - offering EN250 (regulator standard) breathing performance
Launched with the new reflex range of BUDDY BCDs in 2007, the APV100 Auto Air offers all the features of the classic, time-proven AP100. The difference is that the latest Auto Air is a balanced valve which will automatically adjust to the interstage pressure of whatever first stage it is attached to. Unlike the AP100 therefore, you do not need to change the internal spring to suit the make of regulator you use it with
In addition to this major advantage, the APV100 has been restyled with ergonomic curves and buttons, inflate, deflate and purge, which fall easily to hand
In an emergency the APV100 is simplicity itself - just put it in your mouth and breathe! Unlike other make octoinflators you do not have to find and press any buttons. The Auto Air will draw air from wherever it can: either from your main cylinder if there is gas remaining (octopus mode) or from the bladder of the BCD itself (jacket-breathing mode). In the jacket-breathing mode the procedure is exactly the same as for the original AP200 A.P.Valve outlined in the APV200 section of this site
In octopus mode the Auto Air is a high performance bailout regulator with the advantage that it sits on your chest area, visible and always-within-reach when you need it in an emergency
The EV50 medium pressure hose shown is included
All AP inflators are Low/Medium pressure - 14 bar Max
